A letter from Aria Grace’s family…

A letter from
Aria Grace’s family…

I would like to introduce you to a little girl who changed our world. Aria Grace was amazing. She was breathtakingly beautiful and sweet. She was brave, kind, strong and sensitive. She loved us unconditionally and we loved her just the same. She brought an infinite amount of happiness and love, not only to our lives, but to everyone who knew her. She was always dancing to her favorite Disney songs or watching Frozen, The Little Mermaid, and Beauty and the Beast on repeat. She loved swimming in the pool, reading books, and eating chocolate chip cookies. Her smiled shined like the stars and her laugh was one of the most beautiful sounds we had ever heard.

She was everything we dreamed of. She was a bright light and an inspiration that we were blessed with for five short years.

Aria was born with a rare genetic disorder called Tuberous Sclerosis Complex. This disorder causes benign tumors to grow throughout the vital organs of the body. The tumors that Aria had in her brain caused her to have daily seizures and development delays. She needed speech therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, ABA and one-on-one assistance in school.

Aria had a life of challenges, yes, but once we found AchieveAbility, she also had a chance. Aria started attending AchieveAbility at two years old. She loved it right from the start, and for the next three years, with the help of her therapist, she thrived. Learning and growing every day! When AchieveAbility started Achievers Day School for children with special needs, we were overwhelmed with gratitude and excitement knowing Aria would be able to continue working with the wonderful therapist and teachers that we had grown to love and appreciate over the years.

Aria’s development continued to progress and when Kim told us Aria was ready to start kindergarten, we were over the moon! The week before school would start, we shopped for a new Frozen backpack, school supplies, and shoes. Aria picked out her binder and pencils and was so excited about her new Little Mermaid shoes.

Sadly, Aria passed the weekend before school would start. She never got to go to kindergarten. Instead of waving goodbye on the first day of school we said goodbye to our little angel for the last time on August 17th, 2019.

We pray that the Aria Grace Memorial Scholarship will benefit other children with special needs.

Thank you very much,

The Lau Family
